The Anne Martell Memorial Scholarship
Since 2016, the Bay Treasure Chest Association has awarded over $300,000 in scholarships to more than 100 local high school graduates. A portion of the funds raised from the community through our weekly 50/50 toonie draw is dedicated to supporting local students beginning their first year of post-secondary education.
The scholarship fund is named for Anne Martell, who co-founded Bay Treasure Chest with her husband, Harry Cook. In 2015, Anne and Harry created a scholarship fund. After Anne passed away in 2016, the fund was renamed in her honour, with the first scholarships being awarded to five Bay View High School students in 2016.
Beginning in 2017, scholarships have also been awarded to Charles P. Allen High School students.
Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee at each high school, and students who receive a scholarship find out at graduation. Students of Bay View High School and Charles P. Allen High School who are interested in learning more about the Anne Martell Memorial Scholarship should contact their school’s guidance department.
Congratulations to the 2025 Anne Martell Memorial Scholarship recipients
The 2025 Anne Martell Memorial Scholarship recipients were 14 local students, 7 from Bay View High School in Upper Tantallon and 7 from Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford.
We wish this year’s scholarship recipients, and all recent high-school graduates in our area, the best of luck as they begin this next step in their academic journeys.
