Roots and Boots Forest School Society
Roots and Boots Forest School provides an engaging and safe outdoor environment for children. Supporting the belief that being outside increases health and wellness, confidence, and social and intellectual skills, children at Roots and Boots are allowed to take risks and learn on their own terms under the guidance of adults. The school develops participants’ connection to—and knowledge of—the land.
The Roots and Boots program is for children who love being outdoors and want to learn more about nature while exploring the woods together. All programs are fully outdoors in all kinds of weather. .
Programs for children ages 3–13 years run seasonally in spring, summer and fall, and are based out of Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park in Upper Tantallon/Lewis Lake. Spring and fall sessions run for 6 weeks, one morning a week, with a focus on ages 3–5 years. Summer day camps run for 6 weeks each summer, 9am-4pm weekdays, for ages 5-13.
Spring and fall programs include Maple Buds for ages 3–5 and Forest Fledglings for ages 6–12.
