The Unicorn Theatre

The Unicorn Theatre Society, a registered society in Nova Scotia, is run entirely by volunteers under the guidance of a Board of Directors.

Providing outstanding theatre experiences for young people as both actors and audience, Unicorn Theatre produces large-scale musicals twice a year in April and November for actors in Grades 3–12, as well as smaller shows in February (Snoopy and Friends), June (Unicorn Magic), and October (Ghoulies and Ghosties), for actors in Grades 2–6. While participation in the larger musicals is by audition, there are no auditions for the small shows.

The theatre also offers a 10-week Saturday-morning theatre club during the school year for Grades 2–6, including two standalone workshops on theatre and other performing arts. In the summer, the theatre runs seven one-week drama camps for Grades 2–7, as well as two weekend camps for Grades 4–12 (one musical and one non-musical). The theatre also offers Spotlight, a half-day program of theatre fun for Grades P-3, as well as occasional Saturday or weekend programs like Grace’s musical theatre workshops and On Broadway for Grades 3-12.

Volunteers and youth work hard to put on excellent musicals and plays, with performances open to the whole community to attend. There is emphasis on mutual respect, supporting each other, and creating a safe space for everyone in the Unicorn family.

Unicorn Theatre is located in the Bay Community Centre, 11 Station Road, Head of St. Margaret’s Bay.
